What to expect
The Helpline Volunteer will answer with - “Hello, Wand Helpline, how can I help you?”
The Helpline Volunteer may ask you some questions to better understand your situation you don’t have to answer them if you don’t want to
We won't give you advice or tell you what to do
You can talk about whatever is on your mind
You can call back a second time that night for a shorter call if you want to
Confidentiality
The Helpline Volunteer will give you their Helpline name
You don’t have to give the Helpline Volunteer your real name if you don’t want to
No personal information is kept on file about you or the details of your call
We won’t trace your call
The Helpline Volunteer may ask you for some anonymous information to help us collect data to help us to improve our service
Everything you say to us remains confidential to the helpline with some exemptions
Exemptions to Confidentiality
1) The caller tells the operator that they intend to compromise or already have compromised the safety and well being of others.
2) The caller tells the operator that they intend to or have already abused a minor.
3) The caller tells the operator that they intend to breach, or have already breached, the Prevention of Terrorism Act.
